The history of Gumpert cars dates back in 2000 when Roland Gumpert , recently returned in Germany , after being 3 years the head salesman of Audi – Volkswagen Group in China , had a brilliant idea in creating a powerful sports car that was fit both for street and race tracks.
Colaborating with Roland Mayer the company was created under the name of Gumpert Sportwagenmanufaktur Gmbh and it is located in the little town called Altenburg , close to Leipzig.
First model was produced in 2005 and the first sketches were made by Marco Vanetta.
The Gumpert Apollo comes with 3 different types of engines :
Base Version with 640 bhp and a top speed of 223 mph ( 360 km/h) ,
Sport Version with 690 bhp and Race Version having almost 780 bhp
all of them being equipped with a 4.2 L bi-turbo V8 Audi engine and a 6 speed manual transmission.
