Lewis Hamilton was recently awarded by BBC Sports Personality of the Year after a public vote. Every year in December, BBC awards the sports personality who managed to achieve as many titles and winning awards since the beginning of the year. First started in 1954 by Paul Fox and presented in the Sportsview Magazine, the Personality of the Year award targets celebrities in sport who play an important role in the UK. Lewis Hamilton becomes Personality of the year of 2014, and during the years, only two Formula 1 racers were able to win the same title twice: Damon Hill and the famous Nigel Mansell.
According to Xinhua, Lewis Hamilton has won with 34 percent, passing the Irish golfer Rory Mcllory who ranked second with only 20 percent. The third place was taken by the athlete Jo Pavey with 16. Lewis Hamilton is Personality of the year after winning for the second time the Formula 1 World Championship Title which took place at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Flying from Los Angeles to the grand festivity in Glasgow, Lewis Hamilton was absolutely surprised to win the price : “ I was sitting there saying Rory is going to have it”. Accompanied by his bulldog Roscoe, the Mercedes Benz Formula 1 driver admitted that being “among the greats” such as Jackie Stewart or Sir Stirling Moss was a dream come true for him.
His speech was honest and emotional when he was grateful to his father “who worked four jobs” to get him into karting. Lewis Hamilton is Personality of the Year and his great achievements in Formula 1 will lead him in top 10 of the most important racers in the world.
