Vladimir Putin was born in 1952 in Sankt Petersburg, Russia and he is a successful Russian politician. He first became president of Russia in 1999 after the official resignation of Boris Eltin and in 2000 he won the presidential election becoming the new president of The Russian Federation until 2008.According to the Constitution he was not allowed to have three consecutive presidential mandates and this is why from 2008 to 2012 he had to take a break and to occupy the prime minister position.
In 2012 he was reelected as president of Russia and his new mandate is going to last 6 years according to the changes of the Constitution. Thanks to its consecutive mandates, Vladimir Putin managed to transform Russia into a powerful country, with an important role on the international political stage. Also, Russia’s economy increased and now it is also an important financial power.
In 2001, after the terrorist attacks in America, Putin expressed his regret and began to promote an antiterrorism politics that increased his popularity even more, especially among Russian people. In the last months he became a very controversial person after the tense situation in Ukraine where the entire world hopes for a peaceful and diplomatic solution.
