The World’s largest Buddha Statue also known as 中原大佛 in Chinese, can be found in Zhacoun a small town of Henan region in central China. The entire statue was completed in 2008 but since 2002 it helds the Guiness record of being the largest Buddha Statue in the world preceded by Ushiku Daibutsu in Japan which is only 120 meters tall. The immense construction rises up to 128 meters in the sky and adding the pedestal which measures 25 meters, the entire height equals 153 meters ( 503 feet ). China managed to build not only the largest Buddha Statue in the world but also the largest statue in the world of any kind, almost twice as big as the Statue of Liberty at a cost of nearly 55 million $.
The statue is placed in a peaceful and blessed area where inner peace and comfort can easily be found in the surroundings where tourists can visit thermal springs and also the 1000 years old Foquan Temple which is considered to have the largest and heaviest bell ( 116 tones ).
