Born on 15 February 1978 in Seoul, South Korea, Yiruma is one of the world’s top piano music composers. With 3 large continents fascinated by his unique music, Asia, the United States and Europe, some of his most famous pieces: “Kiss the Rain”, “Maybe” and “River Flows in You” perfectly integrate his music into the universal art, bringing Asian values to far away places.
After 5 years of piano lessons in Korea, at the age of 11, he moved to England and graduated from Purcell Specialist Music School (London) in July 1997, then from King’s College London in June 2000. The extremely talented student was to become an outstanding musician.
He never forgot his South Korean roots, so he gave up his British citizenship which he held along with the South Korea citizenship and entered the Republic of Korea Navy in order to begin his military service. Afterwards, Yiruma began the 2008 Yiruma Come Back Tour, Ribbonized, in 20 cities across Korea.
